Ferran Adria to launch Good Food Month 2014 at GOMA

How does it feel to know you'll be feeding a chef whose restaurant won the accolade of Best in the World multiple times?

"It's humbling having Ferran Adria in my city and even more so eating my food," says Josue Lopez, executive chef at GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art) restaurant.

"The kitchen team are absolutely pumped - they've volunteered to come in on their days off and given up holidays to be here - we're all pretty excited."

Lopez and his team have been busy preparing to cater for the national launch of Good Food Month on Tuesday April 8, at which Ferran Adria, formerly of Spain's elBulli, is special guest.

Queensland Good Food Month will kick off on July 1. Four weeks of food related events will feature a wide spectrum of restaurants, from cheap eats to cafes, bars and food businesses from all over the state.

Lopez says he has designed the launch dishes with a strong focus on local produce.

"I want to showcase Australian produce and perhaps introduce Ferran to some flavours he might not have tried before," Lopez says.

On the menu is Queensland wagyu bresaola with egg yolk "pearls", and Noosa spanner crab brandade served between potato "kettle chips" with carrot "lollipops" made with Lockyer Valley carrots, which Lopez reckons are "the best in the world".

Lopez will also incorporate native produce into a spiced blood pudding and two desserts. Davidson plum will be matched with white chocolate, while the second dessert sounds like it should be our national dessert, a wattleseed and Daintree vanilla "Tim Tam". There will also be a selection of Australian fruit including custard apple, mangosteen and carambola.
