Botany Bay Hotel

13/20

Asian$$

The band is belting out 'I would walk 500 miles' and you should, for beer-battered chips, rib-eye and garlic bread this good. It's not swish but the brickwork, leather seats and an all-girl team give the place a homely vibe. The portions are big, with specials ranging from burnt butter barramundi to chimichanga. Deep-fried juicy curls of salt-and-pepper squid get a dusting of pre-mix Sichuan pepper partnered with chilli lime mayo. Garlic prawns are drowned in an overpowering arrabbiata sauce. The steaks are glorious dinosaur-sized portions cooked perfectly. And don't miss the lickalicious sticky date pudding.
