Like the dough awaiting the ovens here, Brickfields has been proving itself rather well. This multi-tasking eatery is a wonder housed in an industrial, tile-lined space. Between sacks of ingredients is a small eating area where you can peer into the open kitchen or admire displays of sweets - chocolate and peanut brittle tart, anyone? With Paul Geshos (Mecca), Ben Abiad (Sean’s Panaroma) and Simon Cancio (Luxe) involved, this cafe has gold-star pedigree, as reflected in the excellent ‘dranks’ (‘Lebonade’, house-made pear soda), coffee and flavour-sharp menu. Service can be curt, but worth weathering for the roast chook sambo and broad bean and parmesan breakfast plate.
