The team behind ONA Coffee and The Cupping Room is opening up a new venue, this time in Dickson.

Highroad is their new all day cafe, taking over the former site of SubUrban on the corner of Cape and Woolley Streets.

Taking things further than just a cafe, which is what the team is most well-known for, Highroad will be open 7am til midnight daily, offering up all-day dining, snacks, dinner and drinks.

Co-owner Jack Scheeren said the venue is all about providing a 'local' for nearby residents, where they can get great quality food and beverages without going into the city.

"What we want to do is inspire people to hang out in Dickson and inspire other businesses to come here and make it a bit of a hub," he said.

"It will be a real all-day venue. You can come at night and get a coffee or you can come in the morning and get a bloody mary or a glass of wine if you want. It's really for the locals."

The venue is owned by a whole group from ONA Coffee's team - Scheeren, Sasa Sestic, Hugh Kelly, Sam Corra, Caity Reynolds, and Jerome Felix.

Reynolds, who is currently manager at The Cupping Room, will manage the venue day-to-day, and head chef Felix will be behind the menu.

Food will incorporate a lot of native Australian ingredients, and expect to see a bit of a nod to The Cupping Room's brunch menu, which it is well-known for.

Unsurprisingly, there will be a big focus on coffee, with ONA Coffee served up from a dedicated 7.5 metre bar at one end of the venue. A bar down the other end will serve up an eclectic wine list, craft beer with eight on tap, and cocktails including, of course, coffee cocktails.

Renovations are underway now, and by opening day, the team said the place will look completely different to its predecessor. The space has been split down the middle, and Highroad only takes over the SubUrban side, not the former Belucci's area.

The fit-out draws inspiration from Canberra's mix of man-made and the natural environment, blending raw materials and exposed surfaces, with more refined fittings.

Highroad is due to open in October.

You can get a taste of Highroad before they open when the team takes over Bar Rochford for a breakfast degustation on Sunday September 24. The four course breakfast will be matched with drinks, and tickets are $70 from Eventbrite.
