When a bottle shop specialising in organic wines opens on your block, you know the hipster count has reached critical mass.

The team behind CBD tapas bar Bomba have swung open the doors at Samuel Pepys, within cork-firing range of the arthouse Westgarth cinema, wholefoods store Terra Madre and gelateria Il Melograno.

Bomba partners Shane Barrett, Jesse Gerner, Andrew Fisk and Kelly O'Loghlen have gutted a former clothes boutique, filled the floor-to-ceiling timber and steel racks with 400 wines, and suspended potted plants from the ceiling to soften the interior.

Their wine selection favours organic, biodynamic and sustainable local producers, along with quirky Old World labels, some of which have been brought in by their company Armada Imports and aren't available elsewhere.

There's also a range of (mainly local) craft beers and spirits, and coming soon, a selection of cheeses, cured meats and high-quality canned Spanish seafood to take away.

Shane Barrett, who has put together the shop's list, says his aim was to offer customers things they may not have seen or tried before.

"And having 10 wines on tasting from a range of price points helps us give people good recommendations."

Open daily noon-9pm.
