Local olive grower Alto won the champions trophy for its kalamata olives at the Australian Olive Oil Association awards.

The same olives also won silver at the Royal Melbourne Show. Alto owner Robert Armstrong says they’ve installed a state-of-the-art production facility for table olives, and are able to hand-pick, sort, brine, marinate and pack all the table olives at the grove.

Alto’s flagship Vividus olive oil won champion single-estate-grown oil at the Melbourne show.
Sage restaurant at Gorman House is also celebrating a win, named the country’s best standalone restaurant by the Australian Hotel Association.

Dixie Addison-Rolfe from the Diamant Hotel won front of house employee of the year at the awards ceremony, held in Canberra this year for the first time.

Also in Canberra, the Realm won best marketed hotel and best events venue, the East Hotel won best apartment hotel, and the Royal Hotel in Queanbeyan won best redeveloped hotel.
