Attack of the 'Mutant' marketing burgers
Charcoal buns, quadruple patties, hamdogs, ramen burgers and everything in between: it feels like Australia's high-octane burger bandwagon has burnt through just about every trend possible.
Now, it's become a marketer's must-have: a burger-themed collab for every occasion.
To promote the release of X-Men: Apocalypse onto DVD (remember those?), national chain Ribs and Burgers have added blue food dye to their buns.
Best enjoyed while cosplaying as Jennifer Lawrence's blue body-paint clad Mystique character, the 'Mutant Burger' has a bright blue bun holding an otherwise innocent combo of chicken, chilli and blue cheese mayo (at this stage, we don't know the mutant-status of the chicken used). The play-doughed hued fan boy fuel will be available instores from September 28 (or on 'Mutant Day', as the presser deems it), in limited quantities.
NCIS fan? To celebrate the release of NCIS Los Angeles season 13 on DVD, cult burger bar Five Point Burgers is releasing a City of Angels-themed burg' with spicy jalapenos and chilli mayo. The NCIS New Orleans (season two, represent) burger has tomato chilli pesto and a smoked bacon onion because… people that like watching TV like burgers? Who knows.
