BL Burgers opens Bondi branch

Burgers have emerged as a budding public enemy No.1 with Sydney's food safety police, but it isn't slowing the meat and bun craze. Darlinghurst's booming BL Burgers will open a branch at Bondi beach in late May, despite being targeted by thermometer-brandishing officials.

"Our medium burger still hit the recommended safe temperature, so it really isn't cause for concern at this stage," says BL co-owner Sarah Robbins.

On May 25 it will open at the Beach Road Hotel, in the first-floor space where a number of operators, including Eat Art Truck and chef Andy Davies, have tried their luck. The space has something new going for it, a Luchetti Krelle redesign. The new look and born-again burgers – wagyu as well as a chickpea and kumara version – might be more the ticket.
