Brisbane Sake wins Australia's best Japanese restaurant award 2015

Brisbane's Sake restaurant has been named the nation's best Japanese restaurant at the Restaurant and Catering Association's annual Savour National Awards. Sake head chef Daisuke Sakai took the reins from former chef Shinichi Maeda in August 2014. The restaurant has been awarded a hat in the Brisbane Times Good Food Guide since 2012.

Sake owner, the Urban Purveyor Group, scored a double win, with another of its venues, the Broadbeach branch of Bavarian Bier Cafe, receiving the best Beer Cafe/Wine Bar gong.

Other Queensland venues to be recognised at the 2015 Savour Awards included Best New Restaurant Kiyomi at Jupiters Hotel and Casino, Broadbeach; Trattoria Amici at the RACV Royal Pines in Benowa was named Best Pizza Restaurant; Bistro On3 at the Sofitel Gold Coast won Best Restaurant within a Hotel/Motel/Resort; and the Indian Empire Runaway Bay took out the Best Indian/Sub-Continental Restaurant award.

Quay at the Rocks in Sydney was named Australia's Restaurant of the Year.
