Get ready to loosen your belt and put the diet on hold. Brisbane Times Good Food Month presented by Citi has kicked off and Doughnut Time is giving away specially crafted doughnuts to celebrate.

Good Food Month hits the streets, restaurants, cafes and bars of Brisbane from July 1-31. Doughnut Time will be rolling its vintage caravan, Barbara, down to the Brisbane Wintergarden in Queen Street Mall on Monday July 4 and supplying free Good Food Month "Oh My Stars & Stripes" doughnuts from 10am to the first 300 customers.

"We've worked with our executive pastry chef, Kylie Simpson, to create something unmistakably American to tie in the 4th of July for this exclusive Good Food Month doughnut," says Doughnut Time creative director Adam Hunter.

"We've combined a sweet maple glaze with salted pretzels for a strong contrast of flavours, then added velvety Hershey's chocolate to provide balance. The star-spangled sprinkles add a touch of colour and a slice of Americana."

If you miss out on the frosted freebie, the limited-edition doughnut will still be available for purchase from Barbara the caravan until 7pm (provided it hasn't sold out before then).
