The team from Urban Pantry in Manuka, Cream in the city and a host of other Belluci’s-born restaurants (including Me and Mrs Jones in Kingston and Public in Manuka, variously owned by different combinations of connected restaurateurs) has extended its reach into Deakin, taking over the Double Shot coffee shop.

Opened last week, it’s owned by Omar Muscat and Michael Nager, along with Nathan Sparrow, who has worked at Cream for a number of years and will be a co-owner at Double Shot.

Our columnist Susan Parsons reports terrific decor, with ropes hanging from the ceilings, upside planters, and a neon sign inside with the feel-good message ‘‘I wake up wanting to kiss you’’.

Double Shot is open from 7am weekdays and 7.30am weekends for breakfast, lunch and coffee, and offers salads and breakfasts (including a bread-free ‘‘paleo’’ option), green juices and the like. Muscat says they’re applying for a licence and once that comes through they’ll open for dinner also, Tuesday to Saturday, probably starting in February.
