When the hoarding for a new cafe opening in a mall claims it has the "world's best coffee", it understandably raises a few eyebrows.

That's what Green House, which is opening soon, has done in the Canberra Centre, up in the former space that housed The Coffee Club.

But the claim isn't too far off the mark.

The cafe is the venture of two Canberra coffee stalwarts - Sasa Sestic from Ona Coffee House and Michael Rose from Espresso Room.

Rose said the venue is all about bringing another layer of experience to mall dining.

"People don't really go to shopping centres to have great brekkie," he said.

"And when we think shopping centres and food, it's probably not going to be an experience, it's gonna be convenience. And being able to provide an experience is pretty important."

It's something Mick has already been doing for years with coffee through Espresso Room, which has stores in Westfield Belconnen and Woden, and the Tuggeranong Hyperdome.

Food-wise, Green House has a seasonal, all-day brunch menu which was put together in consultation with Cupping Room's Jerome Felix and they've hired head chef Chris Whitlock.

The coffee comes from Ona, and there will be multiple blends and filter coffees, plus cold brew on tap.

The greenhouse theme has its roots in Sestic's win at the World Barista Championship in 2015, where he used a miniature greenhouse as part of his routine.

Lots of thought has been put into the fit-out, with plenty of greenery amongst concrete, copper, recycled timber and exposed brick, plus custom-made furniture from Italy. The cafe also flows out onto a huge balcony, which has heating for the cooler months.

"It's all really about being able to create a space that's unlike others in shopping malls," said Rose.

"For people to really go there and not feel like they're in a mall. Being able to escape and sit down with some friends and have some good food."

Green House will open the week of November 21 on level 1 of the Canberra Centre.
