Blue Fox has made its den in a new apartment building at the pointy junction of High and Denmark streets, Kew, a tricky space on two levels that tunnels through the building.

The fitout by Zwei Interiors and Architecture is accordingly clean and stripped-back – concrete floor, timber tables, white walls.

Chef Simon Pentifallo (Liar Liar, Rockpool Bar & Grill) cooks from an all-day brunch menu that runs from chia and vanilla bean pudding and buttermilk hotcakes with mango, pandan syrup and coconut snow to crisp fish tacos and a buttermilk fried chicken burger.

Coffee comes from Promised Land (a daily batch brew) and Proud Mary: the Humbler blend for lattes, and single origins for both black espresso and pourover.

Blue Fox is part of a growing cafe portfolio owned by Chinese investment company the Coffee Culture Communications Group, which has been buying up cafes around Melbourne – including Addict Food & Coffee and Sir Charles in Fitzroy, and Liar Liar and Prospect Espresso further east.

Open Mon-Fri 7am-4.30pm; Sat-Sun 8am-4.30pm.
