Burmese cuisine, a mix of Chinese, Indian and Thai influences, just scored a boost thanks to chef Adam Trengove and the team from Red Spice Road.

A moody, split-level reworking of the former Mahjong Black site, Burma Lane features smoky mirrored walls and a giant, pop-art homage to Aung San Suu Kyi. A menu highlight is Trengove's take on mohinga, a Burmese classic featuring rockling in turmeric and lemongrass with noodles and egg.

Burma Lane, 118 Little Collins Street, Melbourne, 9615 8500, burmalane.com.au.
