The church of Gelato Messina continues to expand with the opening of a new outlet in Miranda.

"Miranda is a really crucial location - almost in Cronulla but not that far," co-owner Declan Lee says. "We want to be in communities, a lot of our success comes from having return customers who are local."

Connected to the newly refurbished Miranda Westfield, Gelato Messina will take over a street side location with a larger area for in-store seating.

Messina's signature 40 flavours will make the trip to Sydney's south side, along with its famed gelato cakes.

Next destination for the popular gelato purveyors? A northern NSW Messina is in Coolangatta in February. The team will then pursue the American dream with a Las Vegas store also in the works for next year.

The Miranda gelateria is the eighth Messina store in Australia. The original Darlinghurst shop opened in 2002.
