Meatball and Co becomes Fish Lane Bistro

Less than a year after its splashy launch, The Fox Hotel's Meatball Co restaurant has been rebranded and quietly opened last week as Fish Lane Bistro.

Chef Jonno Bryant, who started late last year at The Fox after leaving Peasant and Cabiria at the Petrie Barracks, has been charged with "freshening up" the restaurant, transforming it from what was touted at the time as a "dedicated artisan meatball venue".

Bryant says he's put together a menu with something for everyone.

"We're a bit blessed because we're a small part of the hotel so we can be creative and a little more changeable with what we do," he says.

The chef, who once headed up Anise wine bar and worked at Montrachet in Paddington, has brought a few of his signature dishes with him. They include a twice-cooked duck from his Anise days, as well as smoked pork and goat's cheese croquettes, and mushroom gnocchi. There's also prawns, pasta, a market fish fillet and, as befits its pub setting, a grill section with a trio of grain- and grass-fed steaks.

A pre-show menu is on offer for people heading over to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and a set menu for $40 for entree and main, and $50 including dessert.
