Mr Spofforth to open in Mosman

Mosman has proved lucky turf for recent restaurant arrivals, but its latest food debutant hasn't shared in the luck. Mr Spofforth, the latest project from George and Anthony Karnasiotis, has broken three mirrors during its build, delaying its opening. They hope to finally swing open the saloon doors next week. "We're hoping it's good luck," Anthony Karnasiotis says. After their success at Butcher's Block in Wahroonga (which they sold) the father-son duo is hitting the lower north shore with french toast made with brasserie bread and a dish of roasted lamb shoulder. "Mr Spofforth is a dapper and quirky chap with an interior seeming both a familiar memory and contemporary experience," designer Ed Kenny, from Giant Design, tells Good Food. If you're wondering what that means, think moss-covered light fittings, modern but no mirrors. At least not yet.
