Nutella fans rejoice, Easter baking purists look away – hot cross bun season has well and truly begun, and that includes one stuffed with the chocolate-hazelnut spread.

Bakery chain Brumby's will be selling its oozing Nutella buns again this year, as well as another tooth-achingly sweet flavour – salted caramel. They are basically dried-fruit-free white bread rolls stuffed with caramel or Nutella spreads.

Last year, goodfood.com.au reported on it and other (delicious) Easter "franken-buns", ranging from doughnuts to eclairs to gelato. Now the 2015 floodgates have opened, who knows what else we can expect?

And if there's any Nutella-buns left over this Easter, here's how we suggest using them up: Darren Purchese's hot cross bun 'n' butter pudding recipe.
