Seems the lure of Noosa was too strong for celebrity chef Peter Kuravita who is about to become a local, upping sticks and moving there with his family during the Christmas-January break.

Kuruvita opened Noosa Beach House in Hastings Street in May on the old Cato's site at the Sheraton.

“Sydney has been where I learnt how to cook and got many of my breaks but now that I am no longer involved with Flying Fish Sydney or Flying Fish and Chips, there is no reason for me to stay,” Kuruvita says.

The chef, who has just returned from filming a series of his popular cooking shows in Mexico owns restaurants in Fiji as well as Noosa, in partnership with Starwood Hotels.

“After 33 years in the city, I look forward to the relaxed and healthy lifestyle for my family, to being in Noosa and part of the community,” Kuruvita says. “I will also be able to keep a close eye on that beautiful property to ensure we become a proud member of the Noosa restaurant community."
