The canny publicans who put the Riverview Dining Room in Balmain back on the food map want to do the same to North Sydney's Greenwood Hotel. Riverview co-owner Warren Livingstone confirmed they will weave their magic whisk at the northside venue and give it a strong gastropub makeover.

"We've just snapped up the lease. We settle in a week," he says. "Our thing is to put good food offerings into pubs, so that's what we plan. [Riverview's] Brad Sloane is the executive chef, he'll do the menu. We're thinking it'll be contemporary Australian, but that's not confirmed."

Livingstone says they will operate within the existing Greenwood space until the end of the year. "In January we'll put a proper restaurant back in there," he says.
