A new dining precinct is taking shape at the King Street end of the CBD. The Archway is a cluster of niche food businesses set to open over the next month beside The Grain Store cafe in Flinders Lane.

The Grain Store owners Michael and Eleena Tan were approached by their landlord, Brendan Sullivan, about the vacant 300-square-metre former grain warehouse next to their cafe.

"We suggested subdividing it and bringing in smart, entrepreneurial operators to create a food community here," Eleena Tan says.

Sullivan asked the Tans to "curate and organise the style of tenants".

They've secured T by LuxBite, Altius Specialty Coffee, pressed juice and health food shop Hunters' Roots, Indian street food shop Delhi Streets and 5 & Dime Bagels. There is one spot left that the Tans hope to fill with an Asian concept; "dumplings or ramen, but we're not sure yet".

Altius hopes to open by next week, with the remaining businesses to open by early November. The Archway is at 517 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
