Chef-restaurateur Andrew McConnell is transplanting his Golden Fields concept to Supernormal, the city venue he expects to open in April 2014. Chef Chris Watson, McConnell's head chef at Cutler & Co, will go into business with his boss at the Golden Fields site, which will change name and become a ''modern local wine bar''.

McConnell has been testing the waters with his contemporary Asian-inspired Supernormal Canteen pop-up in Fitzroy, which is proving so popular he's decided to keep it open until March 1 rather than closing on New Year's Eve as planned. McConnell describes his new Flinders Lane venture as ''an opportunity for growth''. Plans for Supernormal include a dumpling kitchen and a private dining room, which will also be used as a karaoke room. Golden Fields, which opened in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, mid-2011, was McConnell's first solo venture. He co-owns Cutler & Co and Builders Arms Hotel in Fitzroy and Cumulus Inc and Cumulus Up in Flinders Lane.
