Ever wanted to eat at Rockpool but hesitant to commit the time (or money) to a full, multi-course menu? From Tuesday July 8, hesitate no more.
Rockpool is launching the sexiest bar menu in Sydney since Sepia started grilling chicken hearts. “We think the bar is a great place to sit and we want to encourage people to come and do just that,” says Rockpool head chef Phil Wood.
Anyone who has dined at Rockpool since its relocation to the historic Burns Philip building on Bridge Street knows that Wood's seven-course menu of snacks is a deliciously fun way to begin the night. Some of those snacks will cameo at the bar including pork belly with coriander, chilli and rice roll ($5), chirashi zushi of tuna, snapper and squid ($9) and chicken wings with truffle and konbu butter ($25). There's some also a truffle and gruyere brioche toasted sandwich ($24) taking the toastie to hitherto unseen heights.
Most notably, Rockpool's classic 'rich and noble' congee makes an appearance in the form of blue swimmer crab congee with almond tofu, star anise peanuts and Chinese fried bread ($15). This is cause for significant celebration (as is the opportunity to order from Rockpool's encyclopaedic drinks and wine list).
The bar seats up to six people and will only open for dinner service. It also operates on a walk-in only basis: first in, best smart-casually-dressed.
