One of Sydney's hottest venues has joined the ranks of the NSW Food Authority's name and shame list.

The Grounds in Alexandria has been fined $880 for failing to take all practicable measures to eradicate and prevent the harbourage of pests.

A spokeswoman for the Alexandria venue - which includes a sprawling outdoor area - maintains they spray weekly for pests.

The action appears to have inadvertently leaked expansion news at the venue, with the spokeswoman stating inspectors took issue with a neighbouring space behind the Grounds that was previously tenanted to other operators.

The area is "behind a double-locked door" and the Grounds have recently taken it, with plans to expand into it.

Having already acquired another neighbouring venue, where it recently opened the Potting Shed, if it keeps this expansion up the Grounds could eventually cover two postcodes.
