With Circular Quay restaurant stalwarts Imperial Peking, Wolfies, Italian Village and Waterfront all closing their doors on June 30, who and what is Generation Next for the soon to be redeveloped Campbell's Stores site?

The lessee, Tallawoladah, is being tight-lipped about incoming operators, but says it has signatures from a number of high profile Australian and international restaurants. Splashing $32 million on the site, right on the front row of Sydney's Golden Pond, they'd want to land some prized fish. And word is they will.

An international Chinese restaurant is tipped to join the party, as is an interstate seafood operator. Former Becasse owner-chef Justin North confirmed he's in negotiations and will sign if the deal is right, and the crew from The Restaurant Pendolino are also at short odds.

Leon Fink, the owner of the neighbouring Quay restaurant, is also believed to be sniffing around. And how about a Neil Perry waterfront steak restaurant? "We're always looking at opportunities, everywhere. But if we did anything I'm not sure what the brand would be," he says.
