From taste to terroir

Brush up on all-things wine with a four-week introductory course at The Tasting Table Wine Shop, Armadale, in February. Tasting Table owner Jack Mullard will lead participants through the history of wine, the importance of terroir, ageing and, of course, there will be plenty of opportunities for tasting.

* The Tasting Table will also turn the spotlight on pinot noir on Wednesday February 20. Eight wines, including Fiefs Vendéens from the Atlantic Coast near the Loire Valley, and the Aude Valley in the South of France, will be available and matched with cheeses and meats. Tickets are $35 per person.

Melton South's inaugural Beer, Wine and Food Festival

This day-long festival promises to shine a light on what Victoria's western region has to offer, with exhibitors including wine, cheese, spices, micro-breweries and plenty of gourmet food available to purchase. Day includes live music and free kids activities and live cooking demonstrations.

Sunday Reed on the menu at Cafe Vue

Art patron and Heidi founder Sunday Reed was also known for her love of cooking. Now, the culinary team at Heidi's Cafe Vue will bring Reed's cooking back to life when they interpret a menu penned by her and found in the Heidi archives. Snacks and cocktails at Heidi 1 will be followed by a three-course dinner (including matched wines and a dessert buffet) followed by herbal teas and infusions form the Heidi garden (above).
