Gigi Pizzeria

Italian$$

The wood-fired oven in the centre of the room and the evening throng of locals tell you all you need to know: Gigi does pizza and it’s among Sydney’s best. They’re big, thin, stretchy things with high crusts and blobs of wonderfully fresh buffalo mozzarella. Bask in the simplicity of the caprese with cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil and that mozzarella, or feast on the San Daniele draped with smoky prosciutto, rocket and parmesan. Save room for dark chocolate tart with homemade vanilla gelato. Gigi’s ‘rustic Italian kitchen’ vibe would be more convincing if stony staff were more alert, but the pizza speaks for itself.
