Great winter food doesn’t have to be heavy, but it should be full of flavour. This week, think flavour-packed warm haloumi salad, a spicy beef stir-fry and Mexican-inspired flavours for food that’s big on heat and flavour but won’t weigh you down.

On the weekend, we step back in time with a classic vegetarian lasagne, home-made Monte Carlo biscuits and a French inspired Sunday lunch with Stephanie Alexander’s classic chicken braise with tarragon and shallots and Brigitte Hafner’s booze soaked prune and almond tart.
