Japanese BBQ: Chicken yakitori.
Japanese BBQ: Chicken yakitori.

Kickstart your week with a summer-friendly vegetarian salad. And even if it's not meat-free Monday, an easy cold soba noodle salad is a good follow-up that translates well into work-lunch leftovers.

Get through the week with some inventive protein boosts – a fiery pork stir-fry from Neil Perry, Adam Liaw's wafu chicken and mushroom spaghetti (goodbye, spag bol!) – and end the week with a Japanese feast. Invite friends over and distract them with quick pickles, while you prep the barbecue for chicken skewers and smoky eggplant slicked with tonkatsu sauce. A matcha (green tea powder) parfait with deep-fried fruit is a nice way to say sayonara to the night.
