Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp plain flour

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 eggs

  • 3 1/2 cups water

  • 4 medium onions, diced

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika

  • 1/2 tbsp powdered vegetable stock

  • Salt

  • 1/2 chicken, cut into 5cm pieces

  • 1 large potato, cubed

  • 2 small tomatoes, whole or cut in half

  • 1 hot chilli, whole

Method

  1. To make the dumplings combine flour, salt, eggs and one cup of water and mix until the ingredients have the consistency of pizza dough. Set aside.

Saute onions in olive oil for a few minutes. Add paprika, stock, salt, chicken pieces and potato. Mix thoroughly, add 1/2 cup of water and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes. Remove the lid, add the remaining two cups of water, tomatoes and chilli and boil energetically for 30 minutes.

Spoon the dumpling mixture, a teaspoonful at a time, into the pot and cook a further 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
