Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons lentils or split peas

  • 2 tablespoons mashed mixed vegetables

  • milk or cooled boiled water cottage cheese (optional)

Method

  1. Step 1

Rinse the lentils or split peas under cold running water and drain. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil, add the lentils or split peas and cook for 20–25 minutes, or until tender.

  2. Step 2

Drain, then process in a blender or small food processor with the vegetables and a little milk or cooled boiled water to give a smooth consistency. Add a little cottage cheese if desired and mix well.

  3. Step 3

As baby gets older, simply mash the cooked ingredients together with a fork to produce a lumpier consistency.
