- 25g butter
- 100g brown sugar
- 160ml fresh orange juice
- 2 tbsp kirsch or brandy
- 2 tsp orange zest (finely grated)
- 2 x 250g punnets strawberries (hulled and halved)
- 10 grinds black pepper
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Melt butter in a large frying pan over low heat. Add brown sugar and fresh orange juice. Stir for 2 minutes, then add 2 tbsp kirsch or brandy and 2 tsp orange zest (finely grated). Add strawberries (hulled and halved) and stir to coat. Add about 10 grinds black pepper and cook for 3 minutes or until strawberries are glossy and juices are slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
Serve strawberries warm with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
