Sliced mandarins with honey and lavender
This is a dish from Alice Waters's book Chez Panisse Fruit.
Have your say
- 1 cup of mild-tasting honey such as clover or orange blossom
- 1 tsp of dried lavender
- 450g of mandarins
Heat a third of a cup of mild-tasting honey such as clover or orange blossom over low heat. Crush a teaspoon of dried lavender and mix it with the honey, letting it steep for 30 to 40 minutes. Strain the honey. Peel 450g of mandarins and, keeping them whole, cut horizontal slices 1cm thick and lay them side by side on serving plates.
Finish by drizzling them with the lavender-flavoured honey.
