…NEBBIOLO EXPLORATION

Fletcher The Minion Nebbiolo 2014

Nebbiolo is difficult to understand. Often pale in colour, very tannic and restrained in fruit, it's an acquired taste, but it seduces like few other reds. Australian Dave Fletcher makes wine in Piedmont, Italy's nebbiolo heartland, as well as here. This release, blended from various Victorian regions, is a great primer for exploring the variety. Floral aromas, hints of tar, a core of red cherries and spice are followed by a middleweight palate, savoury and flavoursome with big, fine tannins in tasty balance.
