A wine to enjoy with Spanish cuisine styles

Tempranillo is the staple red wine grape of Spain, and the surge in Australia's interest in Spanish gastronomy feeds a local market for it. Our history with tempranillo is relatively short but results are very promising, and this well-priced Barossa Valley wine makes a good introduction to the Spanish-Australian story. It smells ripely of cherries, berry syrup, currants and leather, ahead of a deliciously gulpable mouthful that combines ripe varietal fruit, savoury spiciness and attractive balance with an appetising, dry finish. Serve with meaty tapas.
