With the arrival of the third shipment of single-cask whiskies direct from the distilleries in Scotland, the Scotch Malt Whisky Society holds two nights of tastings on August 13 and 16. The evenings involve tasting a line-up of whiskies chosen by the society’s tasting panel in Britain and its Australian tasting panel. The cask-strength (60 per cent or so alcohol) whiskies, with only one cask made of each, are imported directly in small amounts and you can buy them at the tasting evenings.
