A Game of Thrones-inspired beer is being released in time for the fantasy drama's fourth series next month.

Ommegang Brewery's Fire and Blood red ale is inspired by character Daenerys Targaryen. The beer will be bottled with three label designs, featuring the heroine's trio of dragons.

As the name suggests, it's a deep red drop, complete with a kick from dried ancho chillies, and an alcohol content of 6.8 per cent. The beer is billed as having malty and spicy hop characters.

It's the third collaboration between the New York State-based brewery and HBO. Last year they released two Game of Thrones-themed beers, the Iron Throne blonde ale and Take the Black stout.

The American cable television network is no stranger to novelty beverage collaborations, with its vampire series True Blood inspiring a blood orange carbonated drink called Tru Blood.

Sadly, the beer won't be available in Australia, so beer-loving Game of Thrones fans will have to head to the States to sample the drop.
