Review: Helm Classic Dry Riesling 2015 fresh and zesty with a floral aftertaste

By Ralph Kyte-Powell

Helm Classic Dry Riesling 2015, $35

Delicacy in wine doesn't mean lack of aroma or flavour. Great Australian riesling encapsulates this idea of elegant refinement, and the Canberra region does the style perfectly. Over 39 vintages, Ken Helm's Murrumbateman vineyard has produced a series of delicate, charming, yet ageworthy rieslings, never better than this 2015. It's subdued, with lime juice and spiced apple aromas of quiet intensity that are immediately appealing. There's succulent balance in the mouth and its fresh, zesty flavours follow a superfine line through a haunting floral aftertaste.

Helm Classic Dry Riesling 2015 offers succulent balance in the mouth.
