2010 Freeman Altura Vineyard Nebbiolo

wine
  • Type - Red
  • Winery - Altura Vineyard
  • Region - Hilltops
  • Price Range - $30 - $50

Nebbiolo is an acquired taste, and expensive if you want Italian prototypes. Good Australian versions like this Hilltops, NSW, wine are better on the pocket. Savoury tar, berry and earthy aromas, great texture, grippy tannins and long flavour make a satisfying mouthful. (Screw cap; 13.5 per cent alcohol.)

Ageing? Drink over five years.

Food ideas Cotechino; venison and porcini pie.
