2012 Mud House South Island Pinot Gris

wine
  • Variety - Pinot gris and pinot grigio
  • Price Range - $15 - $30
  • RRP - $22

Pinot gris can be pretty ordinary, but this is a good one. Nashi pear, gentle spice and a light yeasty overtone meet the nose. The succulent palate hints at fruit sweetness, but it's finely balanced, and attractive textural interest leads to a dry finish. (Screw cap; 13.5 per cent alcohol.)

Ageing? Drink over two years.

Food ideas Mild soft cheeses; chicken galantine.
