Tea-flavoured vodka nets Sydney student top spirit awards

Sydney MBA student Ram Krishnamoorthy scored international awards in March at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for his unusual tea-flavoured Longleaf vodka.

It took a year and a half to find a recipe that worked, and the right grade of tea: Pekoe 1, hand-picked on Krishnamoorthy's family's tea plantation in Sri Lanka.

Distilled in the Hunter Valley and served in about 50 bars around Sydney, from Surry Hills to Castle Hill, Longleaf is fruity with a mellow tea-flavoured kick.
