Yu just have to try and find it

Hilary McNevin

Restaurateur Davis Yu has been an early trend spotter and not afraid to churn his businesses to keep with the times (hello and goodbye, Louie and Claremont Tonic). Now he's hopping on the hidden-venue phenom that's so lower Manhattan by opening a new city bar, ''almost next door'' to his venue Touche Hombre at 233 Lonsdale Street. The twist is, Yu doesn't want to tell us exactly where it is; he wants his customers to find it. It's due to open on Saturday, and will be called Le Joint. ''It's hidden behind a fortune-telling shop,'' Yu says. ''We want it to be a place that Melburnians discover.'' So, we predict this: if you're keen to have your palm read or tarot cards done, you just might find yourself in Yu's new watering hole.
