Here are some recommendations for our favourite child-friendly eating spots in Canberra.

Jamie's Italian

Kids are treated to little activities to keep them occupied while they wait for food and the special kids' menu is both reasonable and varied. A stellar child-friendly restaurant in Canberra. 125 Bunda Street, Civic. jamieoliver.com.au

Dolce & Salato Pasticceria

Cherry Ripe Brasserie

Babycinos, lots of cake, and staff who go the extra mile for kids. 2 Watson Place, Watson

Wilbur's

There are always families grabbing a bite to eat at Wilbur's - casual, laidback and easygoing. 14 Hackett Place, Hackett.

Tulips at Pialligo / Rodney's at Pialligo / Pialligo Farmhouse

All three eateries offer plenty of room for the kids to run around outside. Rodney's and Tulips for a more casual cafe option (Tulips has a cubby house for kids) and Pialligo Farmhouse for a more dressed up brunch or lunch.

Little Oink

Child friendly on the north side with plenty of room for kids. 22 Cook Place, Cook.

Tommy and Me

A cafe designed with children and families in mind. Kids get their own menu (teddy bear toast and chicken nuggets) and if they're good they can get a milkshake pass. 3/12 Chalmers Place, Macgregor. tommyandme.com.au

Join the club

There's a lot of love for the Mawson Club and the leagues clubs, which often offer "kids eat free" deals or cheap children's meals.

Always Asian

Kids are always welcome at most Asian restaurants - some of our favourites include The Scholar in Dickson, Malaysian Chapter in Belconnen, and Pho Phu Quoc in Dickson.

Cooking Classes
During the school holidays, book the kids into 3 Seeds at Fyshwick markets, where upcoming holiday cooking classes include pasta with truffles, and baking quiches and jam drops. See 3seeds.com.au Kids Pantry in Hughes does school holiday cooking programs and even offers "mini chef" classes for little ones aged under five. http://www.kidspantry.com.au/
