Reasons to visit

Blairgowrie is a charming bayside town on a thin strip of the Mornington Peninsula between the beaches of Rye and Sorrento. The town has some lovely cafes and specialty shops and the calm waters are ideal for swimming and boating, especially around the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron boat harbour, where you can book a sailing or fishing tour.

Wander the clifftop and beachside trails in the Mornington Peninsula National Park along the rugged Bass Strait coastline to Koonya Ocean Beach and Pelly Point.

Nearby Red Hill is a micro-region of vineyards, restaurants, food stores, artisan producers and orchards. Check out Red Hill Cheeses, Red Hill Brewery, Red Hill Bakery, Green Olive, 2 Macs Farm and the goats' cheese at Main Ridge Dairy. Pick your own strawberries at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm, visit the cellar doors or enjoy local produce fine dining at La Petanque, Port Phillip Estate, Paringa Estate or Ten Minutes by Tractor.

"This is a family affair and my husband and daughters also work in the store. We stock a lot of produce from Red Hill and right along the Mornington Peninsula. Red Hill granolas and mueslis are very popular as is the Red Hill Cheeses range, especially their brie and cheddar. We also import a lot of cheese.

Arc Café, which was a Melbourne icon for many years, provides us with a range of delicious tarts and pates, including a spinach and ricotta tart, lemon tart and a lovely fruit and almond tart. We also carry very nice quiches and pies from Hidden Kitchen in Rye."
