This gorgeous part of the world is home to perfect beaches, ocean sunsets, towering forests and some of the finest food and wine on the planet.

The region produces 20 per cent of the nation's premium wine. Take a wine tour or DIY some of the 95 cellar doors. Investigate the wineries behind the labels or pick a couple at random before you settle in for a long lunch. Order the marron.

Foodie events and produce markets are held all year round, headlined by the Margaret River Gourmet Escape in November.

Petal-heads will be blown away by the 2500 species of multi-hued wildflowers – including 150 orchids – that decorate the region from August to November. Meanwhile, if you look out to sea you'll see whales migrating between June and December.

Just as spectacular below the surface, the area has 150 caves beneath the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge, which you can explore by yourself, on a guided tour and even abseil.

"Margaret River is blessed with superb food and wine producers. We stock Margaret River Nuts and Cereals, Margaret River Free Range Eggs, jams and chutneys from The Berry Farm and soft drinks from Margaret River Beverages.

One of the ranges we make ourselves is Margaret River Fresh Flavours, which are fresh, ready-to-eat meals, including spaghetti and curries. We also make all our own salads.

We have breads from the Margaret River Bakery and they do a beautiful organic baguette that is perfect with a dukkha from Brookwood Estate winery, an Alexander Bridge olive oil and a nice glass of wine."
