Discover Mount Cotton

Reasons to visit

Mount Cotton is a hinterland hideaway, just a 40-minute scenic drive from Brisbane on the Pacific Motorway towards the Gold Coast. Known for its pretty country drives and bushwalks, Mount Cotton is in the middle of a koala conservation area. On a walk through Venman Bushland National Park you are also likely to encounter wallabies, possums, sugar gliders and owls.

Sirromet Wines is an institution here. Drop by the cellar door and have a Devonshire tea or lunch on the seasonal flavours of the fresh local produce and ingredients prepared using traditional Tuscan home-style cooking recipes.

Peace out at Mount Cotton Rainforest Garden, a 10 acre 'secret' of rainforest and private gardens with lily-filled ponds, babbling brooks, wooden bridges, dragonflies, butterflies and the odd wallaby.

Head to the Paradise Gardens lookout for views of Moreton Bay, mountains and sand dunes. Head to Cleveland and take the ferry to North Stradbroke Island for beautiful, beaches, fishing, 4WD adventures and Aboriginal culture.

A local's top tips

David Kindt, General Manager, Jones Retail Group

"We pride ourselves on being part of the local community, employing and stocking locally whenever we can. At Mount Cotton we carry a lot of boutique artisanal products like dips and hand-made gourmet entertaining products. We have a special meat offering – especially lamb and beef – and we even have an old-style service counter.

We stock Bangalow Sweet Pork, dips and sauces from Roza's Gourmet Sauces, milk and cheese from Scenic Rim Milk and Maleny Dairies.

Redlands Flowers is a big supplier for us and is just three minutes from our store and we also carry 120 Australian, New Zealand and French cheeses we hand-package ourselves."
