Reasons to visit

Noosa, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, is one Australia's premier gourmet destinations. Award-winning restaurants and cafes abound, from the Hastings Street eateries on the beachfront to those by the river, throughout the hinterland and in the villages.

Book a farm visit, stock up on fresh strawberries and seafood at the stalls and markets, attend a cooking school or head to one of the regular food and wine events.

Whatever outdoor activity you're into, whether it be fishing, diving, boating, kayaking, surfing, snorkelling, scuba, jet skiing, karting, horse riding, golf, whale watching, mountain biking or just lying around on pristine beaches, you'll find it here on the Sunshine Coast.

Explore the Noosa Everglades, browse the stalls at Eumundi Market or visit the galleries and craft shops in the hinterland towns of Montville and Maleny. Fraser Island and Lady Elliot Island are both within reach and offer another raft of adventures.

A local's top tips

Ben Prince, Owner, Princes SUPA IGA, Noosa

"We specialise in fresh food, so much so that last year we won best IGA produce department in the state. 'Fresh' is a key focus for our store.

We have hundreds of local suppliers, including Strawberry Fields Farm, Mt Sippy Mushrooms, Mountain View eggs and we get fresh seafood from Mooloolah River Fisheries every day. I'm a big fan of their prawns.

We have an extensive deli and cheese section, including the local Kenilworth Country Foods cheeses and product from Sunshine Smallgoods.

I'm a converted Kiwi so we also stock pineapple lumps and a few other New Zealand favourites like Griffin's biscuits and crackers, Bluebird potato chips and Marmite."
