Reasons to visit

Warrandyte is a suburb of northeast Melbourne and a gateway to the Yarra Valley. Warrandyte State Park is the closest park to the city and is beloved by picnickers, bushwalkers, canoeists and birdwatchers.

Wander down to the Yarra River and feed the ducks, dip your toes and spot koalas and cockatoos. Victoria's first gold strike was here and colonial buildings can still be found in the main street.

The Yarra Valley is just 15 kilometres away and produces some of Victoria's finest food and wine. For a quality tipple try the Cider & Ale trail or the James Halliday Handpicked Yarra Valley Wine trail.

Follow the U-Pick trail and pick your own fruit or visit farmgates like Coldstream Dairy for Italian-style handmade cheeses or the Healesville Organic Market on Saturdays.

Catch your own fish at the Australian Rainbow Trout Farm, wander the Cumberland Walk through the tallest flowering trees in the world and visit the wildlife haven at Healesville Sanctuary.
