East meets Weston

Owners of the Lemon Grass Thai restaurants, Nok Jarussongkitti and Andrew Parfett, have opened an Asian grocery store in Weston. The Asia Mini Mart is in the site of the former Sai Tara Thai restaurant, at 9/19 Brierly Street. It’s becoming quite an empire for the couple, with Lemon Grass Thai now in three centres – Woden, the city and Tuggeranong. Our Thai watcher John Milne says the Australia-Thailand Association held its mid-winter dinner at Lemon Grass last week.

He says there’s a Vietnamese-Asian grocery shop at Tuggeranong (at the far end opposite Aldi), a Lao-Asian grocery shop at Mawson, and an Asian grocer in Colbee Court, Phillip.
