Japanese masterclass

The new private chef to the Japanese ambassador in Canberra, Hiromitsu Kato, holds a cooking demonstration on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 26. The embassy says he will show an easy way to make sushi rolls at home and how to make vegetable garnishes using giant white radish, cucumber and carrot. He will also talk about miso and how to use it in your cooking, including miso paste with chicken mince, miso soup, and salmon teriyaki. The aim is to demonstrate easy ways to use Japanese dishes to home, using locally available ingredients. At the Canberra Institute of Technology in Constitution Avenue, 2pm-4pm; the event is free, but you have to book (cultural@cb.mofa.go.jp).
